simply tea

And cookies. Yes my friends, tea and cookies for breakfast. With a fried egg for good measure. One of the first things I do in the morning (after saying prayers and brushing teeth... so I guess that makes it the third thing I do) is fill up my little tea pot. Some of you may be asking, "do you really drink that much tea Beth?" Yes, I do. I have a cup of my favorite Yogi Tea: Breathe Deep, in the morning (helps with my asthma and the licorice aftertaste is wonderful -- especially with gingersnaps in the morning!); two cups of raspberry leaf tea throughout the day, usually mixed with some Emergen-C (to help me heal); and finally, a cup of Traditional Medicinals (I love that word combination!) EveryDay Detox tea at bedtime. "Wow, that's a lot of tea you drink there Beth," you might say. And my husband would add, "aren't you afraid of it becoming an addiction?"

Uh, no. In all honesty, I don't care for the flavor of most teas (unless it's Celestial Seasoning's Sugar Plum Spice Holiday Herb Tea. Mmm.). Hot and herby water just isn't that tasty. In fact, it's pretty gross. However, it is good for you (and if I need something to warm me up, I figure it's better than hot chocolate, sometimes. Say it with me, sometimes...). And that is the reason why I love tea. And my teapots.

Cookie-love, on the other hand, is a different story. *B

  1. Do you still like the green teapot? Maybe you need the blue and the red and the yellow to switch out seasonally??? I agree that herb tea doesn't always taste good, but I always feel good after I have some! And I actually do like a lot of them, but especially the spice. Gingersnaps are good anytime, aren't they?

I love the teapot. Maybe I would force myself to drink more good-for-me tea if I had one like it. I ahve to add tons of sugar and lemon to make it bearable.

  4. Beth, you drink an obscene amount of tea. I always worry if I drink too much tea, will it stain my teeth? Or is it only real tea that does that, not herbal? Well I just bought my first Yogi Tea, it is Mexican Sweet Chili and I love it, it has lots of fun spices. I agree that the licorice-flavor is yumm.

  5. TopHat: I do concur. It's nasty stuff. Which is why I have to mix it with some Emergen-C. Although, it's not too bad if it's brewed in juice instead of water... but dang, is it good for you. I should probably drink it for the rest of my life, between pregnancies, repairs, etc.

Robin: I have never even worried about it staining my teeth. Hmmm. I'll have to try that Mexican Sweet Chili though. But, as you said, I do drink an obscene amount already. Should I really be adding to my daily doses? Hmmm.

I developed a liking for tea on my mission to the wilds of Los Angeles. I still really enjoy flower tea that has the actual flower blossoms floating in the tea pot. Mmm... Tasty.

  9. I really love tea (with honey please) but I definatley don't drink as much as you do. I got a sweet little tea pot for Christmas and was thrilled ... it reminds me of something you might have in your kitchen, though instead of a pea green like mine, you would have a raspberry red one.

  10. I don't know if you've ever tried it, but if you haven't you need to. If you ever have a sore throat, try Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat. With the fan of tea you are, I'm sure you've given it a go, but if not, it's a must do.
