i'm a dummy
and a sucker. I love the look, the feel, of knitted things. And I really need to suck it up and learn the how to. I always leave Anthropologie (feet dragging) completely inspired and envious of all the latest knits: throws, hats, scarves, cozies (little display elephants with their snuggled-up trunks; the N and O of their sign even! Who does that?! Anthro does, that's who.), and the countless items of gorgeous clothing. It's enough to drive one crazy with creative coveting!
And I've always been able to teach myself how to [blank]: cross-stitch, sew, embroider, digi-scrap, etc. But not so with knitting/crocheting. It does not come easy for me. Yet the desire to learn is still strong. I also want to participate in this. So, I'm going to do it. I'm going to knit.
Who wants to be my personal knit wit? *B

i'm with you knitting & crocheting is HARD. i've spent many hours reading books watching videos on the web, but it's just not the same. i guess i just don't have the patience for it. good luck in your endeavors, when you learn can you teach me?
ReplyDeleteI extended the signup date to the 2nd, if you still want to join. <3 And If you have a video camera on your computer, maybe we could do video knitting lessons. I get off work at noon today- maybe this afternoon? or tomorrow. or during the Super Bowl. Whenever.
ReplyDeleteI also picked that book up for you!! (Love the Target $ bins.) I wish you had a day with Kristen. She is so good and can get you going.
ReplyDeleteHey is that your book!? Because I bought the same one on Target's $1 isle a few weeks ago! I have high hopes of teaching myself as well. Good luck!
ReplyDeletehi beth, long time no comment. I love to knit. Kitchen dish clothes are my favorite. Good luck on your projects.
ReplyDeleteha ha! you are hilarious and I have not doubt you'll be great at knitting. You are great at everything you try!
ReplyDeletego B go! I can't knit either! Can't wait to see what you make :)
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting and I know you will be AMAZING at whatever you put your mind to. My hubby learned how to knit on his mission, of all places, and said that it was one of the most relaxing things he ever did! He only has one VERY large blanket, that he worked on for 2 years, to prove that he could knit but he loved it! Good luck and can't wait to see what you learn how to do!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! :) I love to knit! It is so peaceful! You should definitely stick to it! :)
ReplyDeleteI use to be a knitaholic a few years back. Here is a little rhyme that helped me learn. In through the front door runaround the back in through the window off jumps jack. It would be much easier to explain in person but after I learned it knitting was a cinch.
ReplyDeleteI can't knit either. I'm just not coordinated enough!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I've always wanted to learn how, but just haven't ever sat down to try. After you perfect it, do us a favor and teach us all how??
ReplyDeleteRunning errands yesterday, I passed a needlework store called Knit Wits. It made me think of you.
ReplyDeleteI've never even tried to crocheting. It looks too hard. Brett made a bini once, maybe I should have him teach me. :)
ReplyDeleteSadly, we're realizing we can't afford a house. Rent here is ridiculous so we thought we mine-as-well own instead of throwing our money away. But we can barely afford a fixer-upper but we can't afford to buy it and fix it up. :( I also want to start a family someday so not having my income will really hurt us. It's so expensive to live here--you wouldn't think so but it is. You live in Cali right? I shouldn't be complaining because I'm sure prices out there are even worse!
Totally. I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to crochet , but apparently it will never happen unless I can find some who is left handed to teach me because as soon as I mention to anyone who has offered to teach me their skills that I am left handed they immediately withdraw! There should be some sort of lefty crochet club out there I can become a part of. I'm totally proud of you. Way to chase your dreams :) Seriously.
