what do we have here?

Finally, it's APRON time!!! I had this finished, or what I thought was complete, the night before Easter... well kind of. At least I hurried and stuck the pocket on there and stuffed it in his basket (more of those goodies to appear in the next few days...). But I ended up working on it a lot more when I got home, and quite a bit as of today. Sorry mom, but your machine is crap! So I removed the pocket, yet again, and sewed it back on today with my glorious Kenmore machine, which used to be my mothers. And I decided to appliqué the pocket on there because I wanted it to be a tricky pocket. It looks shallow when in reality it's twice as deep. Bwahahaha! And I hand appliquéd the ribbon on there, hand stitched all the ends shut, and mock embroidered {w} on there for none other than the Willie. And as you can tell, he likes it (no, he wasn't trying to take it off, he was proudly lifting it to show it to me, so there!)!

And there you have it ladies, the next give-away: an apron! In order to enter, comment on this post AND tell me what kind of messes you come across that might require an apron (cooking, eating, cleaning, crafting, etc.). Those are the funny rules. ;) If you happen to win you can either choose to have an apron made for a kiddie of your choice, or if you don't have/know a kid, then I can make one for you. Oh, and you must email me your address so that I can actually get it to you! Which brings me to our last give-away. Congratulations to the winners! Didn't catch that tell-all post??? Well check it out, and then don't forget to email me your address (that goes for everyone who entered, as you all get a consolation prize of your choosing)! And here are some more apron pics, just so you know what you're getting yourself into this time, if you so choose to! :)

I made this in the hopes that I could use it for teaching purposes. Like when Mom's wearing an apron that means she's cooking or cleaning, or crafting, and it'd be fun to teach Will how to pick up and be Mom's little helper. Actually, after making my apron, I really liked the idea and challenge of making a little one, let alone a boy one! I'm no OJ&Co, but I'm happy with how it turned out, not too girly. Oh, and this is how Will puts his apron to work (two really short vids, but they're better than nothing... click on the thumbnails and you'll be directed to the video viewing site).

I'm going to work and get something up and listed on my sidebar of the present give-away for those late bloomers who might miss the explanatory post. As this is something I would really like to do every month or so, I figured such a feature might come in handy... And I'm sorry for the long breaks, it's been a bit crazy here lately. Brad's in the middle of finals (I can't believe we're almost through the first year of law school) and I've been caught up in some more exciting developments, including a couple of tags, too. So stay tuned!

PS- Notice my tribute to mine and Will's heritage??? Haha! Oh, and please ignore the rag-a-muffin's get-up... he's been a little under the weather. That combined with late nights for all makes for unwise clothing decisions, although harassment would be deemed unnecessary...

  1. Have you ever thought about making a magazine of all of your creations...with Will as your model of course?

  2. Haha, no, not really! I've thought about making a pamphlet though, a creative designing book with ideas and pictures...

And don't forget to say what your designated mess would be for an apron!!!

  3. My whole life is a mess and requires an apron! But--never mind that--look at my grandson!! So cute and talented, too!! Yes, we liked the red/green spatulas, especially since they're from Williams-Sonoma.

  5. He is so sweet. It is so much fun to see how aprons can be made into such a boy accessory..what a better way than an apron to carry all your trucks, rocks, swords and balls! I love to wear my apron while I am making and eating dinner because it protects my clothes from all my spills and then is comfy after I am done eating and covers up my way too full tummy...it is great!

  6. That's so adorable! You need to open a shop or a web shop. Seriously! You're truly amazing Beth! What a wonderful idea. I totally need to learn how to make an apron. Bryce would love it. He needs something like that to put crayons in, or his trucks or trains. He loves to make a mess whether it be with his toys, while eating or helping me cook. An apron would be a perfect to help him stay clean, while also allowing him to put his things in his pockets. You must teach me... LOL
    Love ya!

  7. I'm a very messy person, honest. Everyone thinks I'm neat and orderly, but I'm not. If you need a reference, you can call up McKay. Or check the status of stains on my shorts currently...

  8. Beth you are too funny! I love your aprons & have been thinking of busting out my sewing machine for them! Anyway...I am frequently finding myself messy these days, usually with spit up! Uck! I very much dislike spit up...but, on the bright side, it is better than icky diapers!

  9. My messes:

eating and cleaning. It seems as though all of my clothing gets some sort of stain on it before I'm ready to give it up. Hate that! And cleaning....I love bleach, and I can't use that with just anything on. (Although, I don't think I'd want to use it with this oh-so-lovely apron on either...that's for sure!) and then the dirt and dust that gets on me if I'm outside in the garden or wherever. Then there's cooking, of course. It's much more fun to cook wearing an apron because I don't have to worry about what I get on my clothes!

  10. Very cute apron! My messes include cooking and cleaning and probably many more that I can't think of right now. Ooo especially when I have to empty our vacuum (it's bagless)and all the dust comes out from the trash! Ewww! That's when I need an apron to feel clean! But I can also see Abby having an absolute ball with one of these when she gets a little older. Maybe I should try my hand at one...maybe...

  11. Alright - I said I wasn't going to miss out on this contest so I better get with it before I'm too late!

If only it were stylish to wear an apron ALL the time! I think it would come in EVER so handy for those times when I unload the girls and they immediately get their feet all muddy and then I carry them up the stairs only to discover that I have muddy tracks ALL over my shirt and pants! NICE! I can't cook without getting flour and eggs and sugar (etc.) all over me. I'm queen of wiping my hands on my clothes. I could use an apron for those times when I'm cuddling with Anika and she turns her head and wipes her nose all over mt chest or shoulder! When I craft I inevitably get paint or glue or marker on my favorite shirt (why was I wearing it in the first place?!). An apron would be a lifesaver for me when I have my next baby. I remember all too well the spit up and the drool and, my personal favorite, the blow out diapers that don't get noticed until after you pick the baby up and realize it's up their back and now all over YOUR shirt. Cleaning can get messy. AND I've heard that aprons make great lingerie! Haha! I had to say that for the shock value.

You are so cute with all your contests!! See ya!

  12. By the way---my designated mess would be making any kind of goodie with Gracie in the kitchen...especially brownies or cookies with Gracie. We are not the cleanest of baking ladies. :)

Wow...do you see how late I am...I have been so overloaded lately that I haven't been able to get my daily "blog fix". Do you want to talk about messes...let me tell you a little story. I am a 27 year old mother of 4 little kids...and the catch is, that they are all under the age of 5. There are two babies who are less than a year apart, and we live on a farm. The wonderful thing about living on a farm, is that there is plenty of dirt, grease and grime to get into all of the time. The bad thing about living on a farm, is that your husband is a farmer, and that usually means working from sun up till sun down, which means mommy is in charge almost 24/7. There is no such thing as taking a day off or having a weekend, so I am in charge of these wild rascals pretty much all of the time. Luckily (and I say this lovingly), I only have one little boy... even though the little girls can come pretty close when it comes to gettin' dirty. I am a total and complete stay at home mom. In fact, we only leave to go to town about once every two weeks for groceries etc, so I am here cooking, cleaning and working (scrapbooking stuff) constantly. I could share specific story after story, but really, I think my post is getting pretty long (hope I'm not boring you!). At the end of some days, I am one "dirty girl" (hee hee)...and an apron would come in pretty handy for this momma!

  15. I forgot to specify my mess. I have 2 words... POTTY TRAINING!
    alternate words... UNDER PANTS!

  16. For myself I would use an apron to cook and do the dishes. And for a toddler, just about anything. Eating, drooling, coloring, etc.
