old place

I love -- no, check that-- LOVE our new apartment!!! I'll get some photos up of it soon. Very soon. But before I do, I'm going to have to show you some pictures of our old place:

In case you can't tell from the pictures, it was cramped and quirky (the ONLY furniture that we owned in the entire place was the loveseat, coffee table and crib. That's it. And no, those are not my paintings. They just happened to be the ONLY ones that I could not move...). It definitely had its perks, though. It was quaint and quiet. It was our home for a year and a half. Will spent a lot of his life growing up there. But...

I'm glad we're gone. *B

  1. Well I sure like how you pile stuff up! That's mean good....it looks less piled and more placed. I'm sad for that tiny little kitchen! Oh dear! CAn't wait to see what's next!

  2. The kitchen in the closet? I've never seen that before :)

I remember our first appartment, when Guy and I first moved to the Ottawa area - man was that cramped lol We barely had a foot of space each side of the bed, and when you sat on the toilet your needs were effectively in the cupboard below the sink. We had a total of 4 rooms (2 bedrooms, and the kitchen/living room - oh, and I guess plus the mini toilet), and everything was on the same electrical system that if we ran the microwave at the same time as the oven, for example, the fuse would bust, and we'd have to convienently wait for our landlord to be home so he could change it since it was in his basement. Plus, it was so old that water froze in the pipes in the winter and we had no water (well, except boiling hot water, since that one didn't freeze. Try taking a boiling hot shower... And try flushing the toilet, with no water to refill it - it won't flush!!!), part of the lining on the roof flew off at some point and last time I checked (5 years later) it's still unfix and we can see the underwood, our neighbour was a drug dealer, the downstairs neighbour was a prostitue, and the landlord brough a girl home every night - with his bedroom right below ours, and gas heating i.e. vents i.e. good traveling system for sound i.e. you get the picture lol

Oy! Can I saw we moved out of there as soon as we could? We didn't even ast a year LOL

  6. You've definintely got talent to pull it all together and make it look so adorable! The "first homes" I think should always be small like that-you enjoy it when you get a bigger place and look back on those days. I know I do and our first place was small too.

  7. Oh my! Was there no stove or oven? You are a FABULOUS cook if you can pull things together in a kitchen that small! But the house looked adorable!!!

  8. It had its pluses, but I'm afraid the minuses eventually had to win out! It looks so cute and cozy in the pictures, doesn't it? You will look back with fond memories though because of your time as a little family in law school. I'm anxious to see the new place this week!
