i'm so not kidding

which is weird, because I'm a HUGE tease. But I'm just not feeling it today (of all days!!!). Oh well. However, I have this idea... the goal for the month: dine in, not out. I'm dead serious. So serious that I even made myself a button to remind me of my intentions. We need to save money. We need to be healthy.
How 'bout you? Anyone want to join me??? Feel free to grab the logo and then proudly display it, wherever it will be of service to you and your ambitions. We could be, like, a support group for each other, or something. No joke. *B

  1. As I'm reading your post, I'm feeling so guilty. Why? Cause I'm munching on chicken nuggets right as we speak. :(

But I want to be healthier...so maybe after my lunch, I'll consider taking the challenge...or maybe after break...or maybe in the summer. We'll see. :D

  2. I LOVE this idea.. but as I sit at my desk and look at my calendar I see that I have guests coming this weekend, and again next weekend, and I might be gone two weeks after that... That makes this challenge really hard. When you have people in town (especially in Vegas) it is hard not to take them out to eat somewhere fun. What am I to do? I really want to particpiate?!

  3. Hmmm, that's a hard one... well, if you have visitors, then go ahead and have fun with them! But don't overdo it and when they're gone, then act as if they were never there ;) Does that work? *B

  4. That will work.. I can participate when they are not here and then "cheat" when they are!!!

  5. We've actually been trying to do this, mostly out of necessity, but I must say that I can't make this commitment this month as it is my birthday and that is what I look forward to most! But otherwise, I think it is a great idea and maybe I sneak it in for May instead.

  6. Melinda, just don't let it count on your birthday! I mean, aren't there exceptions to every rule/goal? ;) *B

  7. I LOVE it! I'm all for it. We've been doing this and it's been great. I call eating out crap food. It's not good for and makes you feel like crap after wards. It's not worth it. If you don't care, I'd love to put your logo on my blog. :)

  8. lol! I so get you on this, my husband and I had been literally abusing the dine outs, mostly out of lazyness to cook :) It was just getting ridiculously expensive - not to mention you never quite know what's in the food nutrition-wise ;-)

Needless to say, this bed rest has been the best dine out therapy LOL

  9. I love this idea. Eating out is SO over-rated.

  10. This is a great idea. I almost never eat out besides getting the occasional pizza, or on dates.
But I have to buy lunch at least a couple times during the week at the cafeteria! I'd go nuts trying to pack lunches every day. Wah!
    Very cute button you've designed!

  11. Count the Nelson clan in! I'm quitting my job to stay home full time at the end of April so we need to conserve the pennies. It will help me pursue the "year of the kitchen" even more. I love your button SOOOO much. you rule chica.

  12. You know I can't totally adhere to this. At this stage I do not want to cook anymore! But I am in agreement on eating healthy, so I will just stick with eating salads when I eat out--not expensive ones though!

  13. LOVIN' IT! And I think you should consider making logos as your profession.

  15. I'm sorry, but I can't join. I'm just such a terrible cook, we would all starve to death. NOBODY can live on spaghetti 7 days a week!! Hey, UNLESS somebody wants to come cook for me?? ;-) Then I'm all in! It really is such a great idea, and an awesome logo!

  16. Eating healthy takes so much effort for me. We don't eat out a lot just because it's so freaking expensive round here ... but I'm currently working on making food choices on the home front healthier. Any tips, suggestions, pointers are welcome :)

We have actually been doing this the last two months because of cost expenses. Whenever we crave a food that we would normally eat out, I get online and google a recipe for a homemade version, a lot cheaper to make. Some days we end up having cereal but at least we're not spending extra money. If you know that week that you ae not going to home around dinner time then plan something portable that can be made ahead of time, some yummy sandwiches or burritos, with fruit and veggies. As sad as it sounds two months has been amazing for us, we got so bad that one week without eating was an accomplishment.

  18. I should grab the button, but I know I would fail. But we ARE eating in tonight. Does that count?

  19. You're so wonderful! I love reading your blog. I can't figure out how to post a comment to your latest but I wanted you to know I know exactly how you feel. Lately I've been so tired of being nice and trying to keep on top of errands and work. Hang in there!

  20. Since you won't let me comment on your most recent post, I'll have to do it on this one...
You are SO not replaceable! Beth Summers is one-of-a-kind, totally original, and wonderfully creative. I love reading your blog, searching your recipes, and playing with your digi goodies.
We all have those worn-out, down-in-the-dumps days. I hereby give you permission to enjoy a chocolate sundae from McDonald's, and no it doesn't count as eating out, and the calories don't count either!
    Hugs!

  21. Hey! Great logo! We were actually already started on something of the same sort. We thought we'd start out by getting to eat out every other or 3rd friday. We had gotten in such a habit of just going out because it was friday. It's been fun and we've gotten more creative with our friday meals. I'm glad I can be part of a support group though! It really is hard to buckle down and plan lots of meals, but so worth it! And much cheaper too! I find that if I have it planned and all the ingredients purchased, it's sooo much easier to not eat out.

  22. this is great. I might join in next month as we have multiple weekend events already planned this month!

  23. Beth you're blog is officially one of the coolest I've seen; I wish I were creative enough to come up with cool stuff.
I've had a blog for years woman! Probably before you did! It isn't quite my style I must agree, but I do love it!

  24. Guess what? We may have to call it a tie. I've been blogging since 2006 as well. My ex and I had a blogspot. =) Needless to say, it has been removed from publication because of the whole "ex" factor. Haha. BTW - my new years resolution has been no eating out. Well, actually it is "no fast food" and for me the terms are synonamous. I've done well so far!
